Director of the Year shortlist revealed

THE chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire and the head of own-designed products at Mamas and Papas are among the business leaders shortlisted in the Institute of Directors Director of the Year Awards.

Gary Verity and Amanda Scacchetti are among 21 directors on a list that also includes Kevin Hollinrake, founding partner and managing director of Hunters Property Group, and Peter Birtles of Sheffield Forgemasters.

John Thompson, regional director of the IoD Yorkshire and Humber region, said: “These awards are designed to recognise the tireless work and outstanding achievements which set certain business leaders apart from their peers.

“This year’s awards are set to be hotly contested as our nominees comprise an incredible selection of inspiring individuals from both private and public sector organisations spanning North, East, West and South Yorkshire.”

The Yorkshire Director of the Year award was won last year by Neil Gaydon, chief executive officer of Pace plc with the Lifetime Achievement Award going to Dr Graham Honeyman, chief executive of Sheffield Forgemasters.

This year’s event will include a new category, Small and Medium Sized Company Director of the Year. The winners will be revealed at a black tie ceremony at Saviles Hall, Royal Armouries, Leeds on Thursday 9 September.
