Race on for regional growth cash

BUSINESS leaders and councillors face a race against the clock to take advantage of a new £1bn fund aimed at promoting regional economic growth, it has emerged.

Ministers have already set a September 6 deadline to receive plans for how companies and councils plan to form "local enterprise partnerships" to replace regional development agencies including Yorkshire Forward.

Once again here in Yorkshire we'll be bidding for a small part of a small pot. Wouldn't it be better if the brains of the region got together to establish an Investment Bank for Yorkshire that could fund regeneration and not be subject to the vagaries of Government and Political change. Is anyone else out there interested in taking up this challenge?
