Philpott takes city lobbying role

THE director of the National Media Museum is set to take the helm at business organisation Bradford Breakthrough.

Colin Philpott will become chief executive next month after stepping down from the museum role he has held for eight years.

He said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to play a role in the development of a city about which I feel passionate.

“I am looking forward to working with other organisations like the Bradford Chamber of Commerce, Positive Bradford and Bradford Council, to help take Bradford forward.”

Mr Philpott, a former BBC executive, will take over from Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust chairman David Richardson who has been in the post for seven years.

Bradford Breakthrough chairman Trevor Higgins said: “In what is an exciting time of rapid change for Bradford I am pleased to announce a leadership change at the helm of Bradford Breakthrough.

“Dave Richardson is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Dave has had a successful time at Breakthrough. I’d like to thank Dave for his contribution both to Bradford Breakthrough and to the City of Bradford throughout his time with the company.

“I am delighted that Colin Philpott has agreed to take over as Chief Executive of Breakthrough and I am looking forward to working alongside him in the years ahead.”
