York bucks hotel trend

YORK hotels are enjoying growing occupancy and room rates despite the pressure on the sector.

The typical price of a room grew 6% year-on-year in March while occupancy rates increased 4.2% helping overall yields to grow 10.5%.

However, their Leeds counterparts saw occupancy levels drop from 73.6% to 71.6% as rates fell 3.2% to £57.02 taking yields to £40.83.

Hotels in Sheffield found the market even tougher with occupancy in March down 9.2% on last year to 60.3% with room rates falling further, by ......for the full story register now for free or login below...
