GDP fall puts pressure on Coalition

BUSINESS groups have called for bolder leadership on growth after new figures showed the UK economy shrank by 0.7% in the second quarter.
The figure, much worse than forecast by analysts, means the economy has shrunk in three consecutive quarters.
John Longworth, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, said: "While many firms are faring better than official statistics may suggest, it’s time for the Government to be bold and show leadership.
