YORKSHIRE'S printing industry has been set the challenge of taking on more trainees to help keep the sector ahead of the rest of the UK.

Kathy Woodward, chief executive of The British Printing Industries Federation, told an audience of printing professionals that the sector was valued at £14bn.

Speaking at an event organised by Print Yorkshire to celebrate Yorkshire Day yesterday, Ms Woodward said: "We are a transformational industry. We're about taking opportunities and developing entrepreneurs.
