VetUK snaps up rival

VETERINARY supplies firm VetUK has bought a competitor business which it will move to Yorkshire.

Nutrecare, an online vet and pet product retailer, was based in Kidderminster with a turnover of more than £3m.

VetUK has bought the business from founder Michael Bianco and will take on four new staff as it transfers Nutrecare’s operations to its Thirsk headquarters.

Nutrecare employed five people in Kidderminster but none of the staff chose to make the move.

VetUK managing director Iain Booth said: “This is an exciting year for VetUK. Year on year growth is at 30% and we about to celebrate our millionth order in the coming months.

“We believe this purchase makes VetUK the largest UK focused online retailer of veterinary and pet products.”

The combined turnover of the business is expected to hit £20m by the end of the year.
 
James Towler, partner at York-based Langleys Solicitors, advised VetUK on the deal.

He said: “This is a great deal for Yorkshire-based VetUK and shows their intention to continue to grow and create further jobs, which is great for the region.”
