BUSINESS groups have reacted cautiously to new figures showing the number of people in work rose by more than 200,000 in the second quarter.

The latest job figures also showed the number of people out of work fell by 46,000 and there were 5,900 fewer claimants of jobseekers' allowance.

The employment figures contrast sharply with measures of the wider economy which have indicated the economy has contracted over the last three quarters.
