A HUDDERSFIELD-based business which has launched the first social housing real estate investment trust (REIT) plans to float it on the Alternative Investment Market.

SAF Housing Solutions, co-founded by Phil Shanks, aims to attract up to £700m from institutional investors which will be loaned to housing associations, local authorities and other landlords.

SAF has begun to accept applications and plans to list the REIT - called Houses4Homes - in the next two months.
