SUPERBREAK Mini-Holidays, a provider of UK and European short breaks, has taken its own trip and moved to newly built premises developed by The Helmsley Group at Heworth Green, York, as part of its continued plans for expansion and job creation.

Previously located at Ryedale House in York city centre, Superbreak employs 250 staff with plans to expand its workforce by 20% over the next five years. 

The company has moved into 20,000sq ft office space within the newly completed 60,000 sq ft mixed-use Heworth Green development. York-based property development and investment company The Helmsley Group is behind the £12m scheme, which boasts some of the largest floor plates in the city.

DTZ completed the lease acquisition on behalf of Superbreak, which is one of the largest office lettings in recent times in York.

GLOBAL protective clothing company Microgard is the latest business to acquire premises at Hull’s Priory Park.

The company, which has 25 staff and will turnover £8m this year, is moving into £1.5m specially designed and built premises on a one-acre site at Priory Park in August.

The new premises, designed and built for Microgard by Yorkshire-based Henry Boot Developments, will comprise 4,000 sq ft of offices and 12,000 sq ft of high- bay warehousing with a dock level door system for fast unloading of containers. The acquisition also includes land for a further 5,000 sq ft extension.

Microgard, founded three years ago, was previously known as Orvec, one of the world’s first manufacturers of limited-life protective workwear. Today the business has 25 sales, marketing and supply-chain management staff in Hull working along-side wholly-owned manufacturing subsidiary, Microgard Xiamen, on the south coast of China which employs 350 people.

The company, which sells a wide range of protective clothing, including for use in farming, forestry, pesticides, chemicals, biological, asbestos, pharmaceuticals, petrochemical, nuclear, clean room, public service and spray shop, into 48 countries, is relocating from Sutton Fields Industrial Estate in the city.

BUILDING firm Rok has unveiled the first phase of Daisy Spring Works, a new apartment and retail complex on Penistone Road, Sheffield, which marks the first stage in the regeneration of the brownfield Green Lane area.

Daisy Spring Works, being built by Malton-based builder Rok on behalf of Golf Press, is restoring the site’s use back to residential as it was back in the 1850s.

Sixty-five of the one and two-bedroomed apartments have already been snapped up for first-time buyers and young professionals. Five retail units will occupy the ground floors, above a private car park for residents. 

Rok is also working on the second phase of a further 67 adjoining flats, including 14 luxury penthouses, due for completion in August 2008.

GREEN-fingered primary school pupils returned to the site of their old Leeds school to help put the finishing touches to what is now a housing development, ahead of its public launch last Saturday.

The youngsters from Rawdon Littlemoor Primary School, planted trees, shrubs and flowers at Avenir Properties’ Park Place and Park Square development, on Harrogate Road, Rawdon. 

The Harrogate-based developer, in conjunction with fashion designer Ben de Lisi, is converting the Victorian school building into eight one and two bedroom town houses, and building 14 two and three bedroom apartments in the former playground.
