THE developer behind a 23 hectare site in West Yorkshire has asked Leeds City Council to step in with financial backing to ensure the scheme goes ahead.

Commercial Estates Group is developing the Kirkstall Forge site on behalf of owner GMV Twelve which has plans to build more than 1,000 homes and 300,000 sq ft of office space.

It is estimated the scheme could create 1,800 jobs directly and attract £350m of private sector investment.
