Transport schemes in frame for £1bn fund

IMPROVED links to Leeds Bradford Airport and the Aire valley Enterprise Zone are among the projects that could be backed by the new £1bn transport fund to be created in Yorkshire in an effort to boost the regional economy.

Better parking at stations, extending the planned Leeds trolleybus network and a series of road improvement schemes are also being considered.

Forget the road network and even bus, improve train network. Airport to Cirty Centre should take no more than 15 mins by train, making it a viable integrated transport option. At moment if I had to chose between Manchester Airport and Leeds (living in Holmfirth) I would choose manchester as a) better airport facilities and b) much better transport infrastructure.

Little detail at the moment but emphasis looks to be on finding ways of improving road links between the motorway network and the airport.
