THE operator of two Yorkshire city centre hotels has enjoyed a 4.7% increase in turnover in the first half of its trading year.

Peel Hotels posted revenues of £8.2m for the 28 weeks to the middle of August and pre-tax profits of just over £45,000, up from close to £33,000 in the same period last year.

The company, which runs the Midland Hotel in Bradford and the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Leeds, saw revenue per available room - a key industry measure known as revpar - increase by 2.6%.
