Businesses face flood risk bill

BUSINESSES in the Lower Don Valley are to be asked to help pay for a £10.8m scheme to reduce the risk of flooding.
Floods in the area in 2000 and 2007 cost firms in the area millions of pounds and companies have warned the council that a repeat could put some out of business.
A scheme to repair gaps in existing defences and raising walls alongside better maintenance of drainage channels has been drawn up with a cost of around £10.8m.
