Record turnover for decade old UOP

UNIVERSAL Office Products is celebrating ten years in business with a record turnover of £8m.

The office supplies company was started from a bedroom by Mark Broadbent and Steve Manley in 2002 and has now grown to employ 19 staff.

Mr Broadbent said: “We are so pleased to be reaching our tenth birthday and seeing the company continuing to thrive.

“Despite tough economic times we have continued to develop year on year and our turnover has grown from £2.6m in 2010 to £4.4m in 2011 and £8m this year.”

The company now operates from an office on Doncaster Road, Nostell, and has a 22,000 item product range.

It has also launched an online subsidiary, stationeryfix.com, focused on the consumer, small and home office market.

Mr Manley said: “When we started the business we could only dream of reaching such a milestone, so we are very happy to have arrived at this point.

“We are now looking ahead to our collaboration with Amazon and Play.com where our products can now be purchased and we have just launched a new updated site for our existing customers so they can buy their products with even more ease.”
