Magners firm buys Waverley rights

THE intellectual property rights of drinks distributor WaverleyTBS have been sold by the administrators.

The deal sees C&C IP Sarl, part of C&C Group – the company behind cider brand Magners, secure the right to the Waverley name, brand and trademarks.

Chesterfield-based Waverley went into administration last month leading to the loss of 685 jobs. Around 50 further staff have subsequently left and 45 remain in post.

Daniel Butters, joint administrator and restructuring services partner at Deloitte, said: “We would like to thank the staff for their continued support as we wind-down the business.

“We are continuing to realise value from Waverley’s assets and mitigate creditors’ losses where possible.”

The administrators are considering offers for Waverley stock and has returned stock worth £3.5m to suppliers.
