Marwood to leave Grant Thornton
LEADING dealmaker Ian Marwood is to leave Grant Thornton at the end of the year.
Mr Marwood has led the corporate finance team across the firm’s Leeds and Sheffield offices for the last 11 years.
He said: “After 25 years in corporate finance, I feel the time is right for a change of direction.
“Having helped to secure a strong position for the practice in the Yorkshire market place and with a number of deals currently at an advanced stage, it is an opportune time for me to step down and pursue new challenges.
“As well as continuing to work with Grant Thornton on a consultancy basis for some clients, I also plan to take on a number of independent advisory roles with entrepreneurial businesses and, indeed, I may well be working alongside the firm on transactions in the future.”
Jonathan Riley, senior partner for Grant Thornton in Yorkshire, added: “Ian is widely recognised as one of the leading dealmakers in the region and he has been instrumental in helping us to establish such a well respected corporate finance practice.
“He has been a great colleague and we wish him well for the future.”
The announcement of Mr Marwood’s departure comes just weeks after John Swarbrick decided to step down from his post as head of private equity firm LDC in Yorkshire and take a position at Business Growth Fund.
