Dealership move for RRG

RRG Group, the North West car dealership chain, has expanded into Yorkshire with the £10m acquisition of four dealerships.

It has bought Toyota sites in Bradford, Silsden and Huddersfield, as well as the Lexus dealership in Bradford.

They have been sold by Huddersfield-based West Riding Motor Group which is owned by Nick Wright. He is now focusing on a Hyundai dealership in Colne, Lancashire.

RRG, based in Salford, is owned by Japan’s Marubeni Corporation and sells Toyota, Lexus, Peugeot, Mazda, Kia and Suzuki cars at 20 franchised garages across the region.

Joint managing director Arran Bangham said: “With the acquisition of these successful and well situated Yorkshire sites, we are well on our way to becoming not only the North West’s but also the North’s major player in the car industry.”

The business has also invested £750,000 at its Toyota dealership in Bury after launching Nissan at the site, which will create 12 jobs.

Tony Cliff, also managing director, said: “The investment in our operations at Bury with the introduction of the Nissan brand will not only have a positive impact on the local job market, but also on the local business environment as a whole. We have been in Bury since 1978 and we look forward to continuing to be the local car dealership of choice.”
