Historic hotel closes doors

The George Hotel, Huddersfield
STAFF have been made redundant at a Yorkshire hotel which is best known for being the birthplace of rugby league.
The George Hotel in Huddersfield has closed its doors after a buyer failed to come forward for the landmark building.
The hotel's basement is home to the Rugby League Heritage Centre, which is separately owned and does not form part of the sale of the hotel. It is home to artefacts including jerseys, trophies, caps and medals.
