RGF pot for Humber businesses

BUSINESSES are being invited to bid for a share of £30m of Regional Growth Fund cash available in the Humber.

Michael Fallon, minister of state for business and enterprise, will launch the new fund to businesses across the Humber tomorrow in Scunthorpe.

Lord Haskins, chairman of the Humber LEP, said: “This is a huge boost to businesses in the Humber and I urge people to come and talk to us to make a quick assessment as to whether this is the right fund for them to help unlock their growth plans.

“We can help businesses present their projects in a way that will maximise their chances of gaining funding and ultimately lead to creating jobs here.”

It is hoped the RGF cash will create 1,500 new jobs, 1,450 indirect jobs and at least a further £125m funding from the private sector.

One strand of the programme is a £10 million programme to support growth of the offshore wind and renewable energy supply chain on the South Bank of the Humber.

The second strand of the programme is £20m available for businesses to exploit expansion opportunities across the Humber area.

The deadline for expressions of interest to apply for a grant is March 15.
