Straight seals deal with Serco

STRAIGHT today announced it has won a contract with international service company Serco.

Leeds-based environmental products group Straight said that the £1.7m deal was to provide containers and other products for Serco’s contract with Canterbury City Council to provide waste and recycling initiatives.

Jonathan Straight, chief executive at Straight, said: “I am delighted to announce our £1.7m contract win with Serco which illustrates our strength as a key player in the waste management industry and the partner of choice for contracts of this nature. We very much look forward to working with Serco and helping Canterbury City Council achieve its new recycling initiatives.”

Robin Davies, development director at Serco said: “Our contract with Straight will play an important role in servicing our renewed eight year agreement with Canterbury City Council. They fully integrated into and supported our bid process providing waste management expertise. They also supply high quality products which are durable and proven across UK local authorities over many years.”

Straight will provide 240-litre wheeled bins for recyclable waste with a 55-litre inner caddy for paper and card collection from homes and also 1,100-litre Steelybin metal bins for recyclable waste from communal areas.

A new weekly food waste collection is to be introduced using Straight  five litre and 23-litre caddies for indoor and outdoor use. Each household will also be issued with a roll of Straight Compost-a-Bag® compostable liners.
