New internet venture targets group buying power

A NEW website called Groupsauce.com is promising to bring people together into buying groups for collective discounts.

Unlike Groupon or other discount sites, Groupsauce.com is led by its users to attract discounts direct from brands.

Users  join groups for goods and services they are interested in buying such as electronic goods, utilities or financial services. Facebook users can become a ‘groupie’ simply by liking the product or service.

‘Groupies’ can share groups with their friends and social media contacts with the aim of creating a large group and better discount.  Offers to groups from suppliers are vetted and then shared with groupies over Facebook, email and GroupSauce.com.

Commenting on the new service Andy Lenney, founder of Groupsauce.com said: “GroupSauce.com is a social experiment in buying and selling goods and services. It’s a place for groups of buyers to meet suppliers. Grouping buyers together means suppliers get more customers and buyers get better deals on things they actually want. Everyone wins!”

Groupsauce.com has already attracted ‘groupies’ around a diverse range of products including baby prams, van hire, cars, laptops and utilities.

The site aims to become the first port of call for social purchasing in the UK. Groupsauce is the second launch of 2013 for the internet entrepreneur, following gogosocial, a specialist social media service for SMEs, in January.
