Charity football match looks to score with record

ORGANISERS of the annual Yorkshire Property Charity Football match and dinner are aiming to raise a record total for charity in 2013.
 
Being held on September 12, the game will once again take place at MEPC’s Wellington Place scheme in Leeds city centre followed by a dinner at The Queens hotel.
 
Having raised more than £100,000 for good causes over the last four years, the event’s organising committee has set a record target of £35,000, with all money being donated to children’s charity Barnardo’s.
 
Jonny Phillips, of Beach Baker Property Recruitment, who founded the game with GVA’s Iain McPhail nine years ago, said: “with the event now a mainstay in the property calendar and following last year’s success, we are aiming to raise our biggest ever target for Barnardo’s which is a fantastic charity supporting vulnerable children, amongst others, in the local community.”
 
Almost 500 business professionals attended last year’s dinner, which followed a match between property agents and their clients, and will once again feature a comedian in September.
 
Committee member Craig Burrow, director at Bruntwood in Leeds, urged companies interested in sponsoring the event to come forward.
 
Mr Burrow said: “We have already had a huge amount of interest from firms wanting to attend this year’s event and given we sold out last year I would hate for anyone to be disappointed if they miss out on table.

“There are a number of sponsorship packages which offer excellent exposure to the Yorkshire property market at very reasonable prices.”
 
It is hoped that a number of ‘big names’ of the football world will play in the game, which was last year won by the property agents who beat the developers and clients team for the second year running.
