Greenhouse continues to be sustainable choice for occupiers

AN OFFICE development claiming to be one of the greenest in the UK is continuing to attract commercial occupiers.

Developer Citu has seen two businesses acquire premises at Greenhouse and a further two rent space at the mixed-use development in Leeds.

Berkeley Civil Engineering Contractors, Looking4parking.com, Zero50, and Improving Health & Wellbeing UK have all recently moved into the sustainable office space.

Tenants span a range of industries including architecture, design, technology, social enterprise and the creative industries.

Aisling Ramshaw, head of sales and marketing, said: “We put this success down to a couple of key factors. Firstly down to the fact that if businesses are in a position to buy into property, buying sustainable is the sensible choice.

“When committing capital into property there are many more considerations to make these days than there were a few years ago.

“With Greenhouse being a high performing, energy efficient, low carbon building it’s built for the future.

“This is important especially due to the EPC regulations coming into play in 2016, which will see many commercial spaces fall short on carbon efficiencies. Commercial buyers at Greenhouse are looking to the long-term and they value the fact that Greenhouse is a solid investment, so they can settle in without having to move or commit further expense.”

Facilities at Greenhouse, which features a number of apartments, include 100mb broadband, a conference suite, on-site gym and deli.

Citu said it was considering converting more space within Greenhouse into additional commercial space.

Berkeley Civil Engineering Contractors has taken 1,250 dq ft of office space.

Paul Sanderson, managing director of the company, said: ”When we were looking for space I came across the Greenhouse website. I remembered the scheme from several articles I had seen a while ago and the development had always impressed me.”

Malcolm Pearce, director of community interest company Improving Health & Wellbeing UK, added: “Working with only a small team and dealing with contacts remotely from across the country, it would be easy to feel quite isolated in a traditional office. It was important to me to find office space that had ‘a heart’.”
