Bayfields Opticians sees opportunity with latest acquisition

BAYFIELDS Opticians has announced its fifth acquisition as it sets its sights on a target of becoming a 50 outlet operation by 2025.

The Leeds-based company has bought Patterson Opticians, based in Wakefield, for an undisclosed sum.

The existing team at Patterson will remain in position, taking the total number of employees at Bayfields to 31.

Bayfields was launched in 2004 by optometrist and managing director Royston Bayfield. The practice now has premises in Headingley, Yeadon, Pontefract, Wakefield and at the University of Leeds.

Mr Bayfield said: “We are delighted to have acquired Patterson Opticians, which is a well-respected practice. Its ethos and attitude towards the customer experience is very similar to ours and the practice’s location in the centre of Wakefield takes us into a new geographical area.

“Our plan is to continue to acquire suitable businesses over the coming months.”

Shulmans commercial solicitors’ corporate lawyer Marcus Armstrong acted for Bayfields Opticians on the deal.

Mr Armstrong said: “It is inspiring to work with such a dynamic and ambitious company as Bayfields, and it shows there are still entrepreneurs out there with strategic plans, continuing to grow their businesses. I have no doubt there will be news of future acquisitions for Bayfields in the not too distant future.”
