Weetwood Hall unaffected by De Vere Venues business sale

IN order to clarify a previous article, the proposed sale by the De Vere Group of its Venues business will not affect Yorkshire’s Weetwood Hall Conference Centre & Hotel.

The venue, which is owned by the University of Leeds, which has extensive conference facilities and 106-en-suite bedrooms, merely enjoys a marketing relationship with De Vere Venues.

General manager Michael Longstaff told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We are neither owned nor operated by De Vere Venues. We have an affiliation with De Vere Venues as a preferred venue for marketing purposes only.”

Mr Longstaff said Weetwood Hall, which is set in nine acres of woodland, is a Meetings Industry Association AIM Gold & Investors In People Gold rated venue which employs 125 staff, is “trading well in the current climate”.

Earlier this week De Vere said it had appointed investment bank Lazard to conduct a sales process for the Venue division after it received a number of unsolicited approaches.
