Filtronic signals that year end numbers will be better than expected

FILTRONIC said today that it expects year end revenues to be £38.5m with profits ahead of expectations, boosted by sales of specialist filters that prevent new 4G mobile phone services interfering with television signals.

The Shipley-based designer and manufacturer of microwave electronics products for the wireless telecoms infrastructure market, said in an interim management statement that sales of the LTE/4G mitigation filters had helped drive its fourth quarter performance.

“The exact timing and mix of these filter sales to the year-end remains difficult to forecast but the board anticipates that current market forecasts for wireless turnover and profit will be exceeded,” it said.

Filtronic said it has a borrowing facility in place with Barclays which will be used to support initial working capital requirements for the LTE/4G mitigation filter production.

It said its broadband operation will deliver numbers in line with market expectations.
