Work has begun on ambitious West Yorkshire housing development

THE Strategic Team Group has started work on the first 58 new homes at the ambitious Navigation Point development in Castleford.

The development, on behalf of West Yorkshire Greenhaven Homes, is part of the Castleford Growth Corridor and will eventually see 1,300 new properties at the confluence of the Rivers Aire and Calder.

Work on this first phase, which combines a mixture of first time buyer and family homes, was kick-started via funding from the Home and Community Agency’s £420m Get Britain Building Programme.

Within walking distance of Castleford town centre, the completed development, which has been identified as a key priority in the Wakefield Local Investment Plan, will feature a civic square, children’s play areas, an Eco park, community shops and restaurants, riverside fishing pegs and boat moorings.

The Navigation Point project is being managed by Leeds-based property consultants Summers Inman for Greenhaven Homes.

Development manager for Greenhaven Homes, John Gladwyn, said: “During the tender process, Strategic Team Group displayed a good grasp of the flexible contractual structure required to deliver high quality private housing.

“Since then, their team has driven the project forward in a professional manner and we look forward to working with them over the next few years.”

Castleford-based Strategic Team Group’s PR and marketing director, Charles Tweed, said: “With our head office based in Castleford we were delighted to be appointed main contractors for such a high profile and significant project for the area, delivering quality, affordable new homes for the local community.”

The marketing suite on site will be open for reservations from early next month, with the first show homes available to view at the end of July.
