Eversheds confirms job cuts

LAW firm Eversheds has confirmed it is to cut 116 staff following a consultation.

The firm, which has an office in Leeds, placed 166 jobs at risk of redundancy including 82 fee earners in January.

It is restructuring its UK real estate and company commercial practices due to the “anticipated volume of transactional activity in the medium term”, alongside the closure of its 29-strong Copenhagen office.

Some 13 positions were affected in Leeds but TheBusinessDesk.com has not yet been able to confirm the scale of job losses at the office.

In a statement it said: “Following the restructuring that we announced in January, the final number of redundancies that occurred across the firm was 116. This was significantly lower than the 166 positions that were put at risk as a result of the consultation exercise.

“We have been able to redeploy a number of our people into other parts of the business. Where redeployment was not possible, significant outplacement support was offered to all affected.”
