Vote now as full Yorkshire Masters shortlist is revealed

TODAY we open the voting in all six of our TheBusinessDesk.com Masters Awards categories.

Everyday up until next Tuesday we will be profiling the shortlisted three companies, initiatives or individuals in each category.

Voting is now closed. 

Sponsors for the 2013 Business Masters Awards include law firm Walker Morris, accountancy firm BDO, Leeds Metropolitan University and The P & A Partnership.

The event takes place at lunchtime at Aspire in Leeds on Thursday, June 27.

In the Exporter category, fast-growing Leeds-based translation business thebigword is up against stock market quoted electronics supplier Premier Farnell and South Yorkshire-based Diamond Dispersions, which has developed an innovative range of printing dyes and dispersions which it sells across the world.

Competing for the Yorkshire Pride award, recognising outstanding charity or community initiatives, are Gordons LLP the first UK law firm to introduce a self-funding apprenticeship scheme, accountants and business advisers Grant Thornton with their Educate to Innovate project and catering business Dine Events.

The Yorkshire Grit award is for the firm that has triumphed against the odds or bucked the economic downturn to achieve success and the three on the shortlist here are textile business Abraham Moon & Sons, family-owned cleaning and hygiene business Disposables UK and Gregory Property Group.

The Innovator category sees the Biorenewables Development Centre in York up against Leeds-based The Test People and element14 – the company behind the credit card-sized computer Raspberry Pi.

Finally, the prestigious Yorkshire Ambassador category sees three respected individuals from the region shortlisted – Etta Cohen, founder of Forward Ladies, which promotes women in business; Jim Dick of Hull Bondholders and a champion of the city and East Yorkshire; and finally Keith Loudon, senior partner of stockbrokers Redmayne-Bentley, who has recently celebrated his 80th birthday and has no plans to retire.
