Shrewdd in profile

GROWING Yorkshire B2B marketing and PR agency, Shrewdd Marketing, has been awarded a prestigious Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) DARE North award for a campaign the company developed for a client.

The campaign was to promote leading Yorkshire-based international company Harvard Engineering’s innovative wireless control and monitoring system, LeafNut, which is for street and outdoor lighting.

Within the Trade & Technology category, Shrewdd’s entry detailed how the company helped to meet Harvard’s aim to increase awareness of LeafNut within UK local authorities and stakeholder groups, highlighting the benefits of dimming street lighting rather than switching them off. The work consisted of Shrewdd managing and implementing a range of activities, including online and print media, social media, award entries, printed marketing collateral and exhibition attendance.

Judges described the campaign as “an illuminating creative entry”, delivering nearly ten times return on investment, more than tripling Harvard’s Twitter followers from 229 to 819 and increasing website views by 36%.

The campaign also resulted in Harvard being shortlisted as a UK National Finalist for the Innovation Award in the 2012/13 European Business Awards and named as the Judges’ Choice winner of the Financial Mail’s Made in Britain Awards.

Michael McDonnell, business development director at Harvard Engineering, said: “The team at Shrewdd Marketing has done a fantastic job marketing Harvard Engineering and our products. It has successfully raised our profile across different market sectors in the UK and internationally, by strategically identifying opportunities and carefully planning the activities across a wide range of media.”

Alf Lombardi, managing director at Shrewdd Marketing, said: “We are extremely pleased to win the award, it is great to be recognised by industry peers for our work. 2013 is turning out to be a great year for us, as we are also celebrating our tenth anniversary and have recently moved into new offices, which will allow us to continue growing the business.

“We currently employ ten people and are looking to double the size of the business over the course of the next few years, taking turnover from approaching £500,000 to £1M.”

The awards took place at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds on June 20. The North awards cover Cheshire, Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham, Greater Manchester, Humberside, Isle of Man, Lancashire, Merseyside, Northern Ireland, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Yorkshire.
