Leeds Legal campaign winds down

THE board of Leeds Legal has announced it is to wind down its successful campaign after seven years of promoting the city as the largest legal centre outside of London.

Originally, it planned to run a three year campaign to promote Leeds as a major legal centre but with support from the city’s legal community, The Leeds Law Society, and its sponsors it was able to extend it for a further four years.

On behalf of chairman Alan Baker and fellow director Rosemary Edwards, Deborah Green said: “We believe we have been successful in achieving our main objectives which were to raise the profile of Leeds as the largest legal centre outside of London both to potential clients and to lawyers, and there is no doubt that our activity has contributed to establishing Leeds as a city of legal excellence both within the UK and overseas.

“We would like to thank our colleagues and sponsors for their excellent support, most notably from UKTI, with whom we have worked very closely to organise the overseas delegations and reciprocal legal visits to Leeds.”

Other achievements over the period included a number of delegations, both inward and outward, Education Week, numerous Lord Mayor of the City of London visits, and also the running of a media relations campaign.

Green said: “To carry out the campaign elements undertaken over seven years we are grateful for the support of the Leeds legal profession and other leading Leeds stakeholders.

“In particular we would like to thank the following that have provided funds or services in kind during this period: Pinsent Masons, DLA Piper, Lupton Fawcett, Eversheds, Hammonds (now Squire Sanders), Shulmans, Clarion, James Love Legal, Gordons, Addleshaw Goddard, Leeds Law Society, The Law Society of England and Wales, Jet2.com, Leeds Hilton Hotel, Marketing Leeds, Millnet, Lodis and a special thank you to UKTI and Colin Russell, without whom none of the work we have achieved would have been possible.”
