Revenue growth continues for EMIS

EMIS Group said this morning that it has continued to see revenue growth in the first half of the year as trading was in line with expectations.

In an update for the six months to June 30, the Leeds-based business, which supplies software and other services to GPs, pharmacies and the healthcare sector, said it had increased its market share in the period and continues to benefit from “significant and growing revenue visibility.”

The ongoing roll out of EMIS Web for GPs continued to proceed to plan and at the period end there were 2,580 live EMIS Web GP practices, an increase of 945 compared with 1,635 at December 31 2012.

There were also 948 unfulfilled orders for EMIS Web GP and 1,663 GP practices in the Familiarisation Service.

EMIS Group said it retains a strong balance sheet with net cash of £14.8m at June 30, compared to £17.7m at the same time last year.

It said contrary to the normal seasonality of the cash flow profile, the cash balance reflects a temporary increase in debtors of around £5m after the significant restructuring of the NHS in England in April.

Chris Spencer became chief executive having held the role since March on an interim basis.

He said: “The first half of 2013 continued to be very busy for EMIS Group. We maintained the pace of the roll-out to GPs of EMIS Web, our transformational healthcare system, and RX Systems deepened its market penetration. The effect of the NHS reorganisation, which took place on April 1, has been as expected.

“We were encouraged by recent comments by Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, when he said that we need to work differently to respond to the changing needs of the population and that means making joined-up services the norm, not the exception. EMIS continues to be uniquely placed to deliver this vision.”

The group intends to announce its half-year results during the first two weeks of September.
