Shepherd secures £64m contract

YORKSHIRE contractor Shepherd Construction has secured a £64m contract for the first phase of a mixed-use regeneration project in North London.

The development, on behalf of Royal London Asset Management and Kitewood Development Partner, will see a retail warehousing site transformed into a new community, with York-headquartered Shepherd set to deliver 379 apartments split across four six-storey buildings.

The scheme will also include 60,000 sq ft of retail space at ground floor and a basement car park with over 450 parking spaces.

This is the second London win in weeks for Shepherd, after the contractor was awarded the £43m Spring Mews development in Vauxhall.

Mark Tant, managing director of Shepherd Construction’s South Region, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Capitol Way redevelopment that will further unlock the future prosperity of the area by creating a new neighbourhood.

“This latest win underlines our commitment to helping developers bring much-needed projects to fruition that will create better environments for those living and working in the vicinity. To this end we will ensure that we work closely with the local community at every stage of the construction programme.”

Joe Crawley, managing director of Kitewood, said: “We are pleased to be working in conjunction with the property team of leading investment manager, Royal London Asset Management and construction partner Shepherd on this exciting, high quality mixed use development in Colindale.

“The area is undergoing rapid transformation and we look forward to playing a lead role by delivering much needed homes alongside an enticing retail offer and the new jobs it will create.”

Shepherd’s architect on the scheme will be Leach Rhodes Walker with Imtech providing mechanical and electrical services and Walsh Associates providing structural engineering expertise.
