EQUIPMENT rental specialist Vp has said it has made a "good start" to its financial year.

Jeremy Pilkington, the group's chairman, told shareholders at its annual meeting that Vp was "alert" to the challenges in the economy but was benefiting from its diversity.

The Harrogate-based business has arms including a construction tools firm and railway maintenance equipment company.
