The Test People stake place in elite list of fastest-growing tech firms

THE Test People has won a place on a prestigious list which ranks Britain’s private technology, media and telecoms (TMT) companies with the fastest-growing sales over three years.

The Leeds-based software testing provider, which took home the Innovator award at TheBusinessDesk.com’s Masters Awards, topped the list in the Yorkshire and North East category, and was placed 44 overall in the annual Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100.

The Test People was founded five years ago by young entrepreneur Gav Winter and now has turnover of almost £6m and provides one of the most innovative testing services for IT, cloud and mobile technology in the UK.

The company, which assesses software to make websites faster and more secure for customers that include William Hill and Hitachi Capital, was founded by Gav Winter and Andy Slight and has grown sales by 76% a year, from £1.1m in 2010 to £5.8m in 2013.

Mr Winter said: “We are delighted to be in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100. Given we were only founded six years ago, its testament to the hard work of the people in and around our organisation, they all deserve this.

“We currently employ over 100 staff based in Leeds, London and Gibraltar and we plan to expand in the UK and in overseas locations, and financial centres such as New York in particular. We have recently established our own Testing Academy to support our recruitment plans and the first 12 analysts will graduate shortly.”

The Test People appear on the table alongside companies from around the UK, including online money lender Wonga, property websites operator Zoopla and content recognition services provider Shazam.

The Tech Track 100 league table and awards programme is sponsored by Hiscox and Barclays, and compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford-based research and networking events company.
