Appointments: Eaton’s Solicitors and Schofield Sweeney; Baker Tilly; Advanced Supply Chain

TWO law firms are taking on more staff in Bradford city centre thanks to help from Bradford Council’s City Centre Growth Zone.
 
Eaton’s Solicitors in Darley Street plans to take on four more staff and Schofield Sweeney in Little Germany will take on another two employees.
 
Eaton’s has been providing legal services and advice for over 100 years and currently employs 40 staff in Bradford city centre and a further 10 in smaller offices in Leeds, Harrogate and Otley.
 
The firm, which has a turnover of £3m, is developing a national reputation as a market leader in the provision of legal services relating to noise induced hearing loss.
 
Lloyd Bowman of Eaton’s Solicitors, said: “The Business Growth Scheme is a fantastic incentive encouraging existing businesses to employ more people and new businesses to move into the area, driving the Bradford economy in a positive direction.”
 
Schofield Sweeney started in Bradford in 1998 and is now one of the leading commercial law firms in the Leeds City Region specialising in commercial law.
 
It employs 90 staff with 48 in Little Germany and has a turnover of £6.7m.
 
Operations director, Graham Sweeney, said: “We very much appreciate the support and assistance provided by the Council, which has allowed us to develop a more proactive business strategy and recruit the extra staff.”
 
The City Centre Growth Zone is part of a £35m initiative funded by Bradford Council and the Government’s Regional Growth Fund. Eligible businesses can receive rate rebates if the demonstrate they are creating new jobs in Bradford city centre.

BAKER Tilly has strengthened its Restructuring and Recovery team in Hull with the addition of five new staff members.

The move follows Baker Tilly’s acquisition of RSM Tenon in September, making it the seventh largest accountancy firm in the UK.

The new Restructuring and Recovery team, based at Baker Tilly’s offices in Humber Quays, Wellington Street West, will now comprise 16 staff who will provide a full complement of formal insolvency, corporate restructuring, and personal insolvency services to clients in Hull and across the wider region.

LOGISITICS business, Bradford-based Advanced Supply Chain, has appointed Derek Wright as senior human resources business partner to recruit the best talent to support the business’ £100m growth mission.

The company has pledged to create a total of 1,500 jobs as part of its five-year business plan, which it rolled out last year as it strives to hit £100m turnover in 2017. Wright will spearhead this recruitment drive and lead the HR team across all business streams with a specific focus on managing employee engagement in a growth culture.
