Planning permission granted for £30m retail park extension

A £30m extension of a retail park in South Yorkshire has been given the go-ahead.

Planning permission has been granted on appeal for an extension of the Cortonwood Retail Park near Rotherham.

Helical Retail plans to create a 98,000 sq ft scheme called Cortonwood Shopping Park.

It will include retail units and restaurants on land owned by Budenny and will adjoin the existing Cortonwood Retail Park owned by Black Diamond Investments.

Helical Retail says it expects to be on site in early 2015.

The company’s Adrian Russell said: “The existing Cortonwood Retail Park is already very successful and includes tenants such as Morrisons, Next, Argos, Asda Living, Boots and B&Q.

“We are very pleased to be working alongside the landowner Budenny to build the extension. It will bring more quality retailers to this vibrant destination and create much needed jobs in the area.”

Edgerley Simpson Howe is the letting agent for the scheme.

Helical Retail is a joint venture between Helical Bar and Oswin Developments.
