CLARION has boosted its employment team with the appointment of John Robinson, who joins the team from Eversheds, as partner.

Robinson advises on all aspects of employment law and has a strong reputation as a tribunal advocate having successfully represented many clients in complex employment tribunal proceedings throughout both England and Scotland.

Mark EvansTHE Sheffield office of law firm Irwin Mitchell has added to its commercial and transactions expertise after appointing associate solicitor Mark Evans.

Joining the team from Nabarro, Evans specialises in advising on all aspects of commercial contracts.

His specialist areas of expertise include major outsourcing contracts, including in the financial services public and third sectors, and collaboration agreements, working on IT and technology contracts with organisations in the technology and biotech sector, as well as advising on competition and procurement.

Evans’ appointment sees him follow in the footsteps of corporate partner Andrea Cropley, who also made the switch from Nabarro to Irwin Mitchell just over 12 months ago. Cropley now heads up Irwin Mitchell’s corporate team across the North of England.

THREE managers of a Sheffield-based firm of chartered accountants have been appointed partners in the business.

Senior tax manager Stephen Charles, Simon Bladen, a manager who specialises in the legal and not for profit sectors, and Paul Wormald, an audit manager, took up their new roles with Hawsons at the beginning of the month.

Charles and Bladen work in the firm’s Sheffield office while Wormald is based in Doncaster.

Martyn Weatherall, Hawsons’ senior partner, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointments of these three additional partners in the firm, which reflect growth and capacity created by the ongoing development of our specialist service departments.”

UK Warranty, the joint venture between Leeds-based specialist insurer UK General and domestic appliance service and support provider Pacifica Group, has appointed new members Nicola Sumner and Jon Negri to its board.

Sumner, who leads the claims, actuarial and insurer relations team at UK General, has experience in executive roles in the insurance sector, including MD of UK General’s Irish insurance business.

Negri, who has taken the role of sales director, was previously head of business development and was instrumental in attracting large accounts including leading domestic appliance company Haier, and online retail business Buy it Direct.

His previous experience was gained at emergency home repairs firm HomeServe, and Dixons where he was trading manager for Curry’s warranty product in the UK.
