Subway franchisors tuck in to growth plan

TWO businessmen who own and run Subway stores in Yorkshire and the North West  are tucking into growth plans after a funding deal.

Paul Darlow and Mark Rannard own Liverpool-based Happy Customer which supports their 15 Subway stores located in Merseyside, Lancashire and Yorkshire. They have five stores in Bradford, seven in the Merseyside area and three in Wigan and employ 140 people.

The pair recently secured £479,000 in funding from NatWest as part of a major expansion to open 15 new stores over the next five years and upgrade their existing estate.

Mr Darlow said: “We visited the America back in 2002 which was when we first came across Subway and we fell in love with the brand.”

The pair opened their first store in 2004 in Bootle, Liverpool and the business has continued to grow ever since. Their latest project has been supported by NatWest senior relationship manager Peter Stock.

Mr Darlow said: “Our existing business is now growing year on year and we are also hoping to open some new stores later this year.”

Mr Stock, a leisure sector specialist, added: “We were happy to support Paul and Mark on their latest business development project and we wish them much success for the future.”
