Administrators called in to specialist manufacturer

ADMINISTRATORS have been called in to a specialist cylinder manufacturer which has been operating for more than 100 years.

Wyke-based Bradford Cylinders, which specialises in the design and manufacture of heavy duty hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders for the steel, aluminium, process, marine, offshore and forging industries, was placed into administration on April 4.

Robert Adamson and Tim Askham from Leeds-based accountancy firm Mazars are now responsible for the management of the business, affairs and property of the company.

The firm employed 37 people and 13 employees have been retained to fulfil customer orders.

A drop in orders and decline in sales volumes has significantly affected the business and resulted in a deterioration of its working capital position, the administrators said.

Mr Adamson, restructuring partner at Mazars, said: “We continue to trade the business, fulfilling customer orders and attempting to secure a sale for the business.

“To that end, we have received some expressions of interest but would welcome approaches from commercial parties interested in acquiring the business or assets.”
