Appointments: Baker Tilly; NatWest; Severfield-Rowen; Intelsius

ACCOUNTANCY firm Baker Tilly in Hull has announced a raft of new promotions in its tax and restructuring and recovery departments.

In the firm’s tax team, Clare White is promoted to associate director, while Claire Chapman becomes manager, and David Alden steps up to associate. The tax team is headed up by former managing partner Andrew Mould with the support of tax partner Jackie Hall.

In the restructuring and recovery team, Phil Withers has been promoted to manager, while Sarah Jessop and Sarah Metcalfe are both promoted to senior administrator positions. The restructuring and recovery team is led by partner Alec Pillmoor.

NatWest has appointed Dan Miller as new senior relationship manager into the commercial banking team for Huddersfield and Halifax.

Miller has been working as a relationship manager at NatWest in Bradford for more than 10 years where he has supported a range of SMEs with their business goals.

In his new role he will continue provide banking support and business expertise to a portfolio of SMEs locally.

Ian Barnet the Director for commercial banking in West Yorkshire at NatWest said: “I am delighted to welcome Dan to the team. He is an experienced and successful relationship manager. His appointment reflects our confidence in investing in the Huddersfield and Halifax marketplace.”

STRUCTURAL steel group Severfield-Rowen has appointed Alun Griffiths to the board as a non-executive director.
 
The company also announced this morning that Keith Elliott will retire from the board in July having served as a director for 15 years, including as chairman of the remuneration committee and senior independent non-executive director.
 
Griffiths is currently group HR director and board member at WS Atkin, an engineering and project management consultancy. An economics graduate, Griffiths is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a non-executive director of the group, Women in Science and Engineering. He is a non-executive director of The McLean Partnership, member of the National Employer Advisory Board, chairman of the advisory board of UCL 2050 leadership programme and a member of the Royal Society Diversity Steering Group. He will also join the board of the Port of London Authority in September and will take over as chair of the company’s remuneration committee in July following the retirement of Elliott.
 
Ian Lawson, chief executive of Severfield-Rowen, which earlier this week announced it is proposing to drop the “Rowen” from its name, said: “I am delighted to welcome Alun to the Board. He has a strong track record and brings a wealth of experience that will be of significant benefit to the group as it continues its strategic and operational progression. INTELSIUS, a global designer, manufacturer and distributor of environmentally sustainable, temperature-controlled and regulatory-compliant packaging solutions, has promoted Neil Sherman to technical services manager.

In addition to overseeing new product development, Sherman assesses new marketplace technologies, assists with technical sales inquiries and manages the ISTA-certified testing laboratory. He will report directly to David Walsh, CEO of the York-based business.

“We are delighted to promote Neil, his industry experience and outstanding skills are assets to our company and clients,” said Walsh. “He has excellent leadership skills and a proven track record of understanding sales goals while providing strategic product development.”
