Site sold to make way for student accommodation

OCS Group has sold a former industrial and office site in Leeds to make way for a student development.

The 1.45 acre site, which has now been sold to Betra, is divided into two sites off Servia Road. The plot to the north comprises Servia House, a detached three-storey office and industrial building, and a further two-storey office property to the south, named Claro House. Planning approval has been secured for a student residential development of two blocks, with room for 298 beds.

The Leeds office of property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) acted for OCS Group in the disposal of the site.

Robert Whatmuff, head of LSH Leeds and director of Industrial and Logistics, said: “We were delighted to be selected to provide our services on the project. We worked closely with our client, OCS Group, the purchaser, Betra and Leeds City Council to maximise the opportunity and regenerate the site.  The disposal of Servia House and Claro House will pave the way for a natural extension to the student accommodation next door, resulting in an improved value for our client and more desirable space for students in one of the UK’s most popular university cities.”

Phil Haworth, Estates Team at OCS Group, added: “One of our key priorities as a business is to always maximise the potential of our portfolio assets, which in this case resulted in a successful sale and a promising new development for Leeds. The LSH team’s expert insight ensured the opportunity was maximised, and enabled the best possible result in terms of the redevelopment of the site.”
