Building Briefs: Farrell & Clark; P + HS Architects; Bielby Associates

LEEDS and London-based architects Farrell & Clark have been celebrating the completion of a string of projects for supermarket chain Waitrose.

Stores have recently opened in Bedford, Wootton and Oundle and planning applications for several more new local Waitrose stores across the country have also been submitted by the practice.

In 2012, Farrell & Clark was appointed lead consultant on the very first Waitrose and John Lewis at Home. The 100,000 sq ft outlet in Ipswich Cranes was the first time Waitrose and John Lewis at Home units were designed to be adjacent to each other.

Gabriel McAtarsney, Partner at Farrell & Clark London, said: “Our relationship with Waitrose has been a beneficial one for both parties and we are committed to providing them with design solutions in an effort to deliver the best possible retail environments. It is a genuine pleasure to be a part of their continued success and development.”

WORK is now underway on a new £4m state of the art medical centre in the market town of Pocklington.

The Pocklington Group Practice is developing the scheme which will replace the current surgery on Barmby Road. David Ogilvie at Dacres Commercial, who advises developers working on GP practices and healthcare schemes across the North of England, negotiated the site acquisition, prepared development appraisals and secured additional tenants including a pharmacy and several other NHS users.

P + HS Architects of Leeds designed the scheme.

Matthew Gration of Aspect 4 is acting as project manager and Lindum Construction is building the centre.

The building is due to open in April 2015.

A FORMER Victorian Villa residence most recently used as an eight bedroom residential healthcare facility is up for sale.

The 4,150 sq ft property in Roundhay has attracted interest from developers, according to the agents Bielby Associates.

Director James Bielby says: “To date we have received good interest from interested parties looking to refurbish the former residential healthcare property The Beeches for owner occupation as well as a positive interest from private development companies to convert to a number of units. We feel the level of interest received is testament to the quality of the location and the improving market conditions for properties of this nature.”
