Property People: CBRE; Ward Hadaway; Knight Frank ; S Harrison; Carter Jonas

THE Leeds office of CBRE has appointed Jacques Esterhuizen as surveyor in its industrial agency team following the completion of several major deals.

Esterhuizen joins from DTZ and will be assisting the team with its Yorkshire and North East instruction base of more than 3.5m sq ft of standing stock and some 1,000 acres of development land.

CBRE’s Yorkshire Industrial team is appointed on some of the region’s most high profile schemes such as the 140,000 sq ft Strata for Cordea Savills, the 550,000 sq ft Sherburn 550, Sherburn Distribution Park for Anglesea Capital and Latitude 135, Castleford (135,000 sq ft) for Wilton Developments.

Esterhuizen said: “This is an exciting time to be joining the CBRE team as supply dwindles across the region and this shortage of quality, available stock painting a positive picture for pre-let activity and a longer-term return to speculative development. I am looking forward to working with the team on its extensive client base as the activity within the logistics sector continues to increase.”

LAW firm Ward Hadaway has strengthened its specialist residential development team in Yorkshire to keep pace with a wave of new instructions from clients capitalising on a more buoyant property market.

The firm has recruited two new members of staff to bolster the team at its Leeds office. Anis Dadu joins the firm as a solicitor with more than 10 years’ specialist experience advising on a wide range of projects in the property sector.

Scott Mulligan has joined Ward Hadaway to head up the firm’s residential plot sales team in its Leeds office. He has dealt with all aspects of residential conveyancing for more than 10 years, acting for leading regional and national house builders in their plot sales throughout the UK.

Andrew Pliener, partner in the property team at Ward Hadaway in Leeds, said: “There has been a marked resurgence in the property market in general and the house building sector in particular, buoyed by the improving economic climate and by Government initiatives to assist more people to buy their own homes.

“A number of developers, including many of our clients, are now looking to build on land which they previously acquired as well as buying land for future development.

“With property prices on the rise, there is something of a ‘feel-good factor’ in the sector at the moment and this is reflected in the increased activity which we are involved in.”
