Aspire-i swoops for Igen

SOCIAL enterprise Aspire-i has acquired Igen in a move to create the region’s largest provider of employability, training and guidance services.

The Aspire-igen group said it will look to build on the strengths and reputations of both organisations to develop a “resilient, responsive” service across the North.

Caroline Harrison, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a winner at the 2013 Yorkshire Finance Director of the Year Awards, and formerly CEO of Bradford-based Aspire-i, has been appointed group chief executive.

She said: “Igen will provide further depth to the range of solutions we already offer to our clients. These additional capabilities combined with an enhanced reach will enable us to provide an unparalleled level of service across the whole of Yorkshire and beyond, and ensure young people and adults receive the very best independent career and training help and advice.”

Harrison is also currently chair of Careers Yorkshire & the Humber, the prime contractor for the National Careers Service across the region.

Aspire-igen expect to have a combined turnover in the region of £20m and employ around 300 staff, in 10 towns and cities across the Yorkshire & Humber, and Northumberland.
