Expansion plans for Yorkshire law firm

BLACKS Solicitors is expanding its office space as the business continues to grow.

The legal firm, headquartered at Hanover House, Leeds, also occupies a 9,408 sq ft office in Wade House, Merrion Centre, spanning two floors. Property investment and development company Town Centre Securities (TCS), which owns the Merrion Centre, has just agreed an expansion plan meaning the firm will occupy another 1,000 sq ft.

The expansion comes off the back of significant new wins for Blacks, which has recently celebrated 25 years in business, following an increase in turnover (21%) and profit (7%) during 2013/2014.

The employment team of nine, led by partner Richard Parr, will be moving into the new premises from Hanover House at the end of the month.

Chris Allen, managing partner at Blacks said: “We currently house one of the largest employment teams in Leeds, so it’s essential that we can cater for our strong portfolio of Yorkshire clients. The relocation to Wade House in the Merrion Centre will enable our staff to maintain a high-level of service across all departments.”

In the past 12 months, more than 35 new people have joined the law firm bringing staff number up to 144, including 16 partners.

Edward Ziff, chairman and chief executive of TCS, said: “We have a strong, long standing relationship with Blacks Solicitors, which stretches back over 15 years. We regard it as a great compliment that Blacks has chosen to expand within Wade House at the Merrion Centre and we are proud to have the flexibility to meet Black’s accommodation needs.”
