Barclays House sold in £5m deal

A LEEDS building formerly occupied by Barclays Bank has sold for more than £5m.

Savills, on behalf of a private client, has sold Barclays House in Leeds to Bridges Ventures and Evenacre.

The building fronts on to East Parade and totals 45,000 sq ft. The six storey office was the former home of Barclays Bank and was sold with vacant possession.

Paul Fairhurst, head of Savills in Leeds, said: “The sale of Barclays House is a significant deal for Leeds city centre and we are pleased with the price achieved for our client. There is an increased demand for properties in this traditional business location as somewhat of a renaissance takes place.”

Bridges and Evenacre propose a comprehensive refurbishment of the building to provide some of the “highest quality sustainable offices available to the city in 2015,” they said.

Savills and CBRE have been retained as letting agents for the building.
