Celebrate all things great in business at Kirkless Business Week Conference

KIRKLEES Business Week is a celebration of all things great in business throughout Kirklees, with over 50 exhibitors in the exhibition hall and an explosive line up of key speakers – it’s not one to miss.

As part of the week, the Kirklees Business Week conference is taking place on Wednesday October 15 at John Smith’s Stadium. Key speakers include State of the District panel member and Educating Yorkshire’s beloved deputy head teacher Michael Steer, Green&Blacks entrepreneur Jo Fairley and Fraser Doherty, founder of fruit jam company, SuperJam.

Educating Yorkshire’s Michael Steer turned his back on a career in banking to work in education and was brought to the forefront on the Channel 4 show.

Jo Fairley co-founded pioneering organic chocolate company Green & Black’s with husband Craig Sams. The firm is now bigger than Marmite (in sales terms) and cooler than Prada (Coolbrands 2007/2008). In the Coolbrands Survey 2009 Green & Black’s was the only food brand in the top 20.

After being taught how to make jam in his grandmother’s kitchen in Scotland, Fraser Doherty came up with a way of making jam 100% from fruit.  At sixteen, he presented his brand, SuperJam, to Waitrose and went on to become the youngest ever supplier to a major supermarket.

Kirklees Business Conference networking partner 4Networking will provide one of the liveliest breakfast network events in the Kirklees.

The event will also offer clinics to mend various business ills. These will include Fantastic Media’s leading your marketing strategy, Servacloud’s leading your cloud strategy and David Cooper of Coopers Coffee’s making yourself less busy. The Kirklees Business Hub will also be on offer.

Four of the district’s sector leaders will also take to the stage as the State of the District panel.

The panel includes Michael Steer of Channel 4’s Educating Yorkshire, Paul Kemp the assistant director for investment and regeneration at Kirklees Council, Leeds City Region education board member Amjad Pervez, John Shinwell managing director at Continental Wine & Food and Andrew Hobson of Birstall-based marketing agency Fantastic Media.

The panel will be chaired by David Parkin, founder of TheBusinessDesk.com, who will ask each leader to give their view of the state of the district in their sector before opening up to the floor for a question and answer session.

Places are limited and organisers are encouraging delegates to book now to guarantee a place. Visit www.kirkleesbusinessweek.co.uk/kirklees-business-conference
