Appointments: Continuum; PwC; ABP Doncaster; Envestors; 24 Seven

CONTINUUM Leading Attractions has appointed Kev Smith to the board.

The move follows 14 years’ service to the company, where Smith has been instrumental in bringing new development projects to fruition, including Coronation Street The Tour, Spinnaker Tower and York’s CHOCOLATE Story.

Kev Smith, attractions director of the York-based company, said: “It is a privilege to join the Continuum board after 14 years at the forefront of our visitor attractions. As Continuum celebrates its 30th year, it’s an exciting time for the company. I look forward to continuing to work with the brilliant team to deliver further growth in our existing portfolio as well as securing new opportunities for the group.”

The Continuum Group board includes seven key figures from the tourism industry, including former CEO of the English Tourist Board, John East, Dr Peter Addyman, academic and founding member of Heritage Projects, and Sue Garland, ex CEO of the British Tourist Authority.

PwC Legal has appointed Neal Shepherd as a partner to spearhead its regional growth, particularly in the North of England.

Shepherd, who joins today from Addleshaw Goddard, will be based in the firm’s Manchester office but will work with businesses across the UK, focusing on mid-market M&A and expanding areas in employment and pensions.

ABP Doncaster, provider of meat products, has appointed a new operations manager.

Joining Doncaster’s 600-plus workforce, the appointment of Nick Young forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to efficient and quality manufacturing.

ABP general manager at Doncaster, Katharine Haenelt, said: “Nick has a wealth of experience and has worked within the industry for many years – making him ideal for our team. Nick shares our passion for delivering a sustainable and ethical offering to customers, whilst also boasting the skill set required to further enhance efficiencies within the company.

PRIVATE investor network, Envestors, has appointed three experienced entrepreneurs as non-executive board members.

Kevin Lomax, technology entrepreneur who founded and led the software group Misys to a FTSE100 company, becomes chairman and joining as non-executive directors are Penny Avis, a former Deloitte corporate finance partner and Julian Box, founder and CEO of Calligo, a provider of cloud-based enterprise data security solutions.

Envestors, headquartered in London, also has offices in Yorkshire, Jersey, Monaco and Dubai.

All three non-executive directors have invested in Envestors to enable the rapid growth plans and development of the investor platform.  Since 2004, Envestors has helped UK companies raise more than £78m, including £11.1m over four years for Chargemaster, the electric vehicle charging infrastructure provider.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS network operator 24 Seven Communications, has appointed Marshall Frieze to join the company as director of new business sales.
 
Frieze’s 20-year career in the telecommunications industry includes senior positions at T-Mobile (during the transition from One2One) and Phones 4U. In 2003 he set up his own business, Pioneer Communications Solutions, which became an award winning T-Mobile business partner and Vodafone gold partner. Pioneer was later integrated with Olive Communications, where he took up a role as director of new business.
 
Frieze said: “We have identified some really exciting and innovative opportunities with new products, and part of my role will be to oversee their development and deliver them to market. Over the years, I’ve been impressed with the work 24 Seven has done and have already been made to feel very welcome since joining the business.”
 
24 Seven, headquartered in Leeds, has recently developed a new strategy, which will see an increased focus on streamlining telecommunications systems for companies to increase efficiency, whilst combatting older technology left over as a legacy from out of date practices. This will include developing new products and services to meet changing business demands, particularly in the mobile market. The business is set to launch a flagship new product, which promises to be a UK first, within the next month.
